In April 2025, the Sealy Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Board of Directors approved several key initiatives to drive local growth. Highlights included extending the contract with The Retail Coach, amending the budget to support downtown parking projects, and releasing terms for the 207 N. Meyer project, which will become a Fuel Maxx Center, aimed at increasing local sales tax revenue.

Sealy reported over $1.64 million in local sales tax collections for the fiscal year to date, with notable contributions from department stores, limited-service eating places, and building materials retailers.

SEDC also continued its proactive role across various development fronts. Collaborative efforts with Workforce Solutions, Blinn College, and Sealy ISD focused on targeted workforce development and the potential use of a shared software platform. Community involvement included sponsorship and volunteering at Spring Fest 2025. Business outreach included a tour of the Hailiang Copper Texas Manufacturing Facility.

On the development front, SEDC participated in a Main Street Round Table in Eagle Lake, joined county-level leadership discussions, and represented the city at the state level during the swearing-in of District Attorney Brandy Robinson.
