The Sealy Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Board of Directors met in October 2025 and advanced a new effort to support community beautification. The Board approved an excellence in beautification program and began discussing a downtown revitalization study and plan. These efforts reflect the organization’s dedication to enhancing Sealy’s appearance, strengthening community pride, and supporting economic growth.
Striving for Excellence in Beautification
The Sealy EDC has launched a major initiative to encourage local participation in beautification efforts. This new program is inspired by the successful 1990s initiative, “Make Sealy Sparkle,” and is designed to improve public spaces and support ongoing community involvement.
To expand this effort, the Board is pursuing an affiliation with the Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) program. KTB provides statewide resources, education, and support that help cities build sustainable improvement programs. If accepted, Sealy will form a local committee to guide project development and maintain state standards.
KTB offers support in three main areas:
• Litter Prevention
• Waste Reduction
• Community Beautification
These focus areas include organized clean-ups, recycling awareness, hazardous waste disposal, and beautification projects that enhance public landscaping, improve streetscapes, and promote long-term sustainability.
Timeline and Initial Projects
The EDC has reached out to a KTB representative to confirm eligibility. Once the official application is completed, the goal is to launch an active program in 2026.
Anticipated projects include:
• A community-wide clean-up day
• Local educational outreach
• Public landscaping improvements designed to support pollinators
Residents are encouraged to support and participate in this community program. To join the KTB Committee or volunteer for future projects, community members may contact:

Both local and remote spending continue to trend upward, with moving averages showing sustained growth.
Library Leads in Beautification
The Virgil and Josephine Gordon Memorial Public Library has set a standout example this fall through its creative seasonal decorations. Visitors are welcomed by autumn pumpkins, leaves, and colorful displays that help create a festive and inviting atmosphere. Pumpkins are also available for purchase by QR code during and after library hours, supporting the library’s fundraising efforts.
These beautification efforts demonstrate how local organizations can help strengthen quality of life, build community pride, and enhance Sealy’s appeal as a destination. Seasonal decorations, community events, and volunteer initiatives all play a role in revitalizing downtown, encouraging tourism, and supporting economic development.
The Sealy EDC applauds the library for leading by example and showing how thoughtful beautification makes Sealy shine.
