Sealed Bids will be opened at 3:00 p.m. on June 3, 2024.

​The Bid Results will be read out loud at the location of 330 Main Street, Suite 5, Sealy, TX 77474

A pre-bid meeting will not be required for this solicitation; however, the property to be sold is being made available for public inspection, or questions regarding the solicitation.  To schedule an inspection contact the Sealy EDC at  

​The Sealy Economic Development Corporation reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or parts of bids to waive any and all technicalities and to accept any bid, or part of the bid, which it deems advantageous to itself.

​Contracts for work under the proposal will obligate the contractors and subcontractors not to discriminate in employment practices.

​For clarification, the real property in which the structure sits is not being sold or conveyed and your response should not include any reference to the real property.

​The Sealy Economic Development Corporation is soliciting a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for the Sale of a one-story Structure which is currently located at 125 2nd Street, Sealy, TX 77474. The structure must be moved at buyer’s expense to a location determined by buyer.

​The movement of the structure must comply with all laws and local ordinances.  Buyer is responsible for following all local ordinances, and state laws, obtaining all applicable permits, licenses, and safety guidelines throughout the loading and transport of the structure located at 125 2nd Street.

​Local ordinances specifically applicable to the moving of a building are included herein.

​Buyer will have 90 days from the date of bid acceptance by Sealy Economic Development Corporation to move the building in its entirety or forfeit any further interest or ownership in the building.

​The deadline for submission of proposals is June 3, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

​​ It is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal is received in a timely manner.

​Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered for award, regardless of whether or not the delay was outside the control of the submitting firm or person.

​The Sealy Economic Development Corporation reserves the right to negotiate with any and all persons or firms submitting timely proposals.

​All proposals submitted for consideration must include the original and one (1) paper copy, and be clearly marked on the outside of the sealed envelope with the words “Sealy Economic Development Corporation, RFP – Sale and Removal of Structure located at 125 2nd Street, Sealy, TX 77474” and must contain the name of the company or person submitting the proposal.

​Proposals shall be valid for a period of ninty (90) days from the date they are opened.

The Sealy Economic Development Corporation owns the property located at 125 2nd Street for future development. A wood-frame structure currently sits on the property and is not needed for use by the Sealy Economic Development Corporation.

The Sealy Economic Development Corporation wishes to sell the wood-frame, one-story structure in its current, as-is, condition.

​ The buyer of the structure will need to arrange for the building to be moved at the buyer’s expense while complying with all laws and local ordinances.

Description of Structure Being Sold

  • ​The wood-frame, one-story structure being sold is currently located at 125 2nd Street.
  • ​The structure was previously used as a restaurant and bakery, with 2 bathrooms. The structure sits on masonry block piers.
  • ​The structure is approximately 26 feet long and 25.5 feet wide and is approximately 663 square feet in size.
  • ​The structure’s electric, water, and gas services are all disconnected.
  • ​Final and safe disconnection of each utility will be the responsibility of the buyer, at the buyer’s expense.

Sealy Economic Development Corporation shall sell the building to the highest bidder.

​ *There is a shed noted in the inspection report that has since been removed from the property.

The structure will be conveyed “as is” with any and all defects and faults and the seller makes no representation or warranty whatsoever whether expressed, implied, or statutory with respect to the structure. Buyer agrees that buyer is not relying on any warranty or representation of the seller or any agent, employee, representative, director, or officer of the seller, and that buyer is buying the structure “as is” subject to all faults and without any expressed or implied warranties of any kind, including, but not limited to, materials, workmanship, good and workmanlike construction, design, condition, habitability, tenantability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability or the environmental condition of the house and the presence of or contamination by hazardous materials, and the seller hereby disclaims any such warranty. Buyer has determined on the buyer’s behalf (a) the physical condition of the house and there is no defect or condition that is unacceptable to the buyer, and (b) that all environmental conditions relating to the house are acceptable to the buyer. Buyer is responsible for removing the house within 60 calendar days of the bid acceptance by Sealy City Council and the seller assumes no liability in removal of the house. Buyer shall indemnify the seller from any and all liability with regard to moving the structure.
